A. Unfortunately, no one can be...told what the seagoat is. You have to see it for yourself.

I think the first online multiplayer game I played was a kind of space srategy game whose name eludes me. Long time ago on the old CompuServe service, they had a couple games that you would pay by the hour to play, expensive too, now that I think about it.

First multiplayer game for me was sonic the hedge hog. Not sure what the first "online" multiplayer game was. Netwars or Doom, one of those.

First 2-player game on a single system was Omega Race on the Coleco Vision console... Must have been back in 1984 or something.

First multiplayer with more than one computer involved was Populous on the Amiga. I remember a friend and I had to spend a whole friday evening befriending this jerk so we could borrow his serial-link cable Smile

But man it was worth it Smile

On a single system, I think the first one was Wizard of Wor (sp?). First multiplayer game (if the BBS games don't count) must've been Duke Nukem 3d two player DM on a 9600bps modem connection, that game rocked!!

Online I played Doom 2
On the same keyboard with a friend, Street Fighter 2 or maybe on of those ancient beat-em-up games like Double Dragon.
And on the same keyboard but with turns, Digger. (love the 80s)

I remember Street Fighter 2. What a great game! I will always be a fan of Sega. My brother and I were addicted to Sonic the Hedgehog!

always hate those first threads.. never fails to turn into a competition of who can name the oldest game. no one ever picks one worth writing 2 lines about. it's always just a name and that's it.

First multiplayer game for me was PONG/Tennis on some game brick connected to the TV.

After that it was probably International Karate, Bubble Bobble or SilkWorm on the C64.

Not counting same-screen console/PC games (i.e., only counting online multiplayer) I guess it would have to be Quake 2. Rainbow Six was another of the first ones I played at any length.

Dude, contribute or get the fuck out.
But here, especially for you!

Fire Power (1987) on my Amiga 500
I played it with my brother. We never understood the objective but it was cool to blow up stuff. And every time we saw eachothers tank we started screaming.

Online
Doom at my neighbour's house, because my pc was crap then.
XIII was the first one I played online on my own pc. You were able to play online with a cracked game on the Ubisoft servers. (a lot has changed since...)

I am!

I think I started circle jerking with C&C. But it might have been Duke Nukem. For LAN anyways.

First circle jerk with another person on the same console was maybe Balloon Fight? IDFR.

Played lots of these games:
* Quake 1/2 at school's LAN
* Blood 2 The Chosen over modem with friend (was quite good actually, not much lag, plus there was something magical about it)
* GTA1 at schools LAN loads of fun

As for consoles I remember playing "Tanks" with my mom on nes:)

MegaWars on compuserv back in 1984. It got expensive paying the hourly cost, but was pretty damn fun! A MMO text startrek game, basically.

i haven't been online gaming very long compared to most in here, believe it or not, my first pc multiplayer game is Unreal Tournament Sad I was very perplexed at why meshes were always being downloaded and it would take me forever to start since i was on 56k at the time! oh oh, and Rainbow 6 through Mplayer on 56k as well.
